  • What is a Dermatology pharmacy?

    • As a pharmacy that specializes in Dermatology, your prescription is always in stock and always our priority. Our pharmacists are highly specialized in dermatological medications, so when we receive your prescription, we become part of your care team. We will work closely with your Dermatologist and insurance provider to get you the medication you need, as affordably as possible.

      As a full serviced pharmacy we are happy to fill all your other medications as well.

  • What happens after my Dermatologist sends my prescription to Apotheco?

    • When you choose an Apotheco Pharmacy to fill your prescriptions, the provider will provide you a pharmacy tear-away with our Pharmacy location information and instructions of what to expect next.

      The office will either ePrescribe, fax or call prescriptions into our pharmacy. Once the prescription is received, we will proceed to contact you within 1-2 hours to discuss and obtain all necessary information, provide co-pay information as well as savings through voucher programs, and set up delivery.

  • What products do you specialize in?

    • We are a pharmacy that specializes in your everyday Dermatological needs and cover many therapy classes. Some of the conditions we can assist you with are Acne, Psoriasis and Rosacea. Our Conditions & Treatments page provides a listing as well as more in depth information on the different areas we specialize in.

  • English is not my first language. Do I need to call a different number?

    • Our staff is fluent in many languages! No need to call a different number, we will be able to accommodate your needs directly.

  • Can I transfer my prescription from another pharmacy?

    • Yes! You can request the transfer of your prescription from another pharmacy to Apotheco simply by submitting an online Transfer Refill Form or by contacting your local Apotheco pharmacy.

      Just provide us with some information about your medications and we’ll take care of the rest. We will contact your old pharmacy, get your insurance information, and transfer your refills to our pharmacy.

  • What will I pay for my medication?

    • The cost of your prescription can vary based on the specific insurance plan you and your employer elect. At Apotheco, we strive to get our patients dermatology prescriptions at the lowest out-of-pocket cost! We achieve this by coordinating with your provider to get quick approval, recommending the best option based on your insurance’s specific formulary when needed, applying any applicable vouchers, and offering free delivery!

  • What if I can’t pay for my medication? How can Apotheco Help?

    • Our focus in dermatology allows for expanded expertise navigating the insurance landscape and conducting thorough insurance benefits investigations. If your medication is not covered by your insurance we explore all options with you and your provider, from Prior Authorizations to Step Therapy.

      We have exclusive partnerships and programs unique to Apotheco that guarantee an out of pocket cost, taking the guess work out of your copay.

      While some programs are applicable to all patients regardless of insurance status, restrictions may apply. Speak to your pharmacist about what programs are available to you.

  • What is benefits investigation?

    • It is a process that enables us to determine your insurance plan design and what benefits are covered. Our specialists are trained to locate and search for your specific prescription insurance plan.

      If you have difficulty finding your insurance card, our team will work to find the processing information for you!

  • What is a prior authorization?

    • The prior authorization process is how insurance companies determine that medication being prescribed is medically necessary and appropriate for the condition being treated. It’s also a way for the insurance companies to reduce and manage cost. Our prior authorization specialists can navigate the process quickly and effectively.

    • Most authorizations are completed with 24 hours but depending on your specific insurance, it can take up to 72 hours.

  • What happens if my Prior Authorization is denied or insurance won’t cover my medications?

    • We explore all options with you and your provider. We offer vouchers which have a low out-of-pocket cost for medications even if they are not covered by your primary insurance.

  • What is Step Therapy?

    • Step therapy (also known as a step edit) is a rejection received from an insurance company that requires the patient to try a preferred medication before they will cover a prescribed medication.

  • What is an Out of Pocket maximum / limit?

    • An Out of Pocket Maximum / Limit is the most you have to pay for covered services in a plan year. After you spend this amount on deductibles, copayments, and coinsurance for in-network care and services, your health plan pays 100% of the costs of covered benefits.

  • How will I get my medication?

    • One of the highlights of our patient centric offering is offering white glove and personalized delivery right to your door or place of work, free of charge.

      We are not a mail order pharmacy and we have retail locations. Many of our patients choose to stop by to pick up their prescription and meet our team!

  • How long does delivery take?

    • Due to our localized model, many patients can pick up or receive their medication on the same day. For patients that live further away we are able to deliver within one business day.

  • Do you ship prescriptions?

    • We are NOT a mail order pharmacy. Our prescriptions are delivered by our own in house courier service. Due to geography, in some cases we may use a third-party courier service and only ship in rare cases.

  • Do you ship out of state?

    • In some cases we may be able to accommodate a patient in a state where we do not have a location. This is subject to state licensure.
  • I didn’t receive my medication. What should I do?

    • If you do not receive your medications within your specified window, please contact us immediately. We will work with the carrier to locate, correct, and/or re-issue your medications!

  • How can I request a refill?

  • Do you automatically ship refills?

    • We do not automatically ship refills. However, we do have refill programs managed at each location. We will be happy to contact you as a friendly reminder when your refill is due!

  • How do I know how many refills I have left?

    • Your prescription label will contain the number of refills remaining. Additionally, you can Call Us or Email Us and one of our specialists can let you know! Finally, if you have zero remaining refills, we will be happy to contact your provider on your behalf and request another refill!

  • How can I contact Apotheco?

    • For your convenience there are several ways in which you can contact us!

      • By phone. You can visit our Locations page and click on your local Apotheco pharmacy for contact information.

      • By email. Simply fill out our online contact form and your message will be safely delivered to us.
